Khiddirpur Dock was the place from where Srila Prabhupada boarded the steam ship Jaladutta on August 13 1965. A few friends and admirers, along with his son Vrindavan, accompanied him. He was carrying carrying a Bengali copy of Caitanya-caritamtra,which he intended to read during the crossing. Srila Prabhupada writes in Jaladutta diary-"With what great difficulty I got out of the country! Some wayor other,by Krsna's grace,I got out so I could spread the Krsna Consciousness movement all over the world. Otherwise, to remain in India-it was not possible. I wanted to start a movement in India, but I was not at all encouraged."
